Way to go, marine! Or shall we say, way to go, mariner. Anyways, marine survival gear is important. There’s a good reason all of these items are called survival gear. In theory, these are the items that could spell the difference between life and death in the event of an emergency. Let’s consider the top five most important marine survival categories.

Marine Survival Gear #1: Life Jackets or Vests

There are the floatation devices that could spell all the difference between an awkward moment (where you fall off the boat by accident) and the very un-cool end of your entire life. Did you know that according to statistics, boat travel is far more dangerous than one driving in a car? Most boating deaths occur because of drowning and 80% of the deceased were not wearing life jackets. Bring life jackets just to be safe, and bring a few others, just in case you need them. It’s much better to be safe and neighborly (as in, hey you, need to borrow a life jacket?) than sorry.

Marine Survival Gear #2: Adequate Sustenance

This means extra food, extra water, medical supplies, medications and even water makers. You can never have enough backup, and if you are staying out for a long while, it may be in your best interest to bring along a water maker, which converts seawater to drinkable water in just a few moments. Remember that you have to care for your crew as well too, so bring along medication for motion sickness, seasickness and any other condition you can think of that your passengers might suddenly be struck with.

Marine Survival Gear #3: Sharp Objects

You may have to use these items for cutting fish or perhaps even cutting wood. Make sure and bring along plenty of sharp objects for survival, including knives, knife sharpeners, razor blades, saws (for wood cutting) and other sharp tools like needle-nose grips.

Marine Survival Gear #4: Lights

In the event of an emergency you want to capture the attention of others from a long distance. At night time this means shining plenty of light. So make plans to bring flares and flashlights. Speaking of light, you might also want to bring along a back-lit GPS system so you can find your way around. The more light you have, the better, provided you buy waterproof materials. However, this will also mean packing extra batteries for back up.

It’s good to know that you’re not scared of any Loch Ness Monster, Bermuda Triangle or Moby Dick out there. Still, it’s better to be cautious than just plain stupid. Before you head out, there are some items that you should take with you and hold onto dearly, as these are the items that could easily save your life. This is what you call marine survival gear.

First and foremost you need a life vest. Even if you can swim you want to take one of these vests just in case you have to help somebody else out. Some vests can actually store items in the pockets, so not only are they safe to wear, but they also might be convenient for storage. You should also bring along a survival case, and hopefully one that can float in the water and that is waterproof.

That are some other items that you may need for marine survival gear? You can carry along signal mirrors, a fire starter kit, or well-protected matches. An emergency whistle might be necessary to get someone’s attention, whether that of your own crew or to another vessel. It’s always a good idea to bring sharp objects alone in case you need to cut your way to safety or alter the shape of an object. Knives are a good starting point but you might also want to bring a saw for more focused wood cutting. You should also bring a knife sharpener and a few razor blades. Don’t underestimate the importance of basic tools like screw drivers, needle nose pliers and hammers.

Other items of importance for marine survival gear may include a poncho to protect you from water and rain and also a change of clothes. Some mariners recommend taking along a hat with a neck flap as well as sunscreen and UV-protected sun glasses. Remember that anything you bring onboard, even sunscreen, should be waterproof or at the very least, weather resistant. Other frequently mentioned items for marine survival gear include lip balm (to protect you from all that salty air) as well as insect repellent.

There’s no question that it gets cold out at night on the ocean or river, so bring along warm clothing (that’s still waterproof) as well as an extra blanket. If you intend to write then you might want to bring a waterproof notebook. In case you’re wondering, yes, there are waterproof computers and waterproof supplies. You don’t have to live without modern technology aboard a boat-you just have buy a quality brand that offers full protection against the elements. Other electronic items you could consider for marine survival gear might include marine stereos, marine radars and marine GPS systems.

The more electronic devices you have the more batteries and battery backups you will need. After all, once you run out of batteries your time is up…and if that means your GPS system is out then you are lost at sea! Also remember to bring a couple of flashlights so you can find your way around at night.

The Joys Of Boating is indeed true that boating carries with it a great number of benefits and joys. There are people all over the world who consider boating as a perfect means to drive their problems away. So when these people feel overworked and need a relaxing diversion, they simply head to the sea and sail away. You can simply spend a day in a boat and fill up your time talking, laughing and enjoying the company while you sail away.Snorkeling and scuba diving are some of the very rewarding activities that you can do while you are boating. These activities are just as important in terms of relaxation, helping you to remove the harsh reality of life above water and take pleasure in the pristine scenes beneath it.

Fishing while boating is also an enjoyable and exciting activity one can experience. It is an activity that is suitable for all ages from eight to eighty. The type of catch and the skill required to land it seems to be the exciting part of this activity. On the other hand, diving and water skiing are some of the common activities particularly for people on vacation. All over the world, beaches are equipped with boats that can be rented and sometimes may even come with a captain to help you sail in case you do not have the required sailing experience.

Whatever kind of boat you like to have, it is important to know your needs. And in this respect, there are lots of boats of all shapes and sizes that can be fitted to your particular preference. Even if you have never tried boating, and this will be your first time to go sailing, most people find something to like from lolling about on the water. Whether you want to go fishing, diving, water-skiing, snorkeling or simply want to lie on the deck and bathe in the sunshine, boating activities seem to be totally revitalizing. Once you are in Nature’s clear blue waters, you can feel the calming effects of it that are quite simply invigorating.

Every single day there are boats that are abandoned, damaged or seized thanks to illegal activities of owners. When a ship is damaged in an accident, quite often the insurance agency will pay the owner of the vessel and then still be stuck with a boat that they did not use. And then being damaged, it is not easy to sell it of course. Everyone is sceptical of buying a boat which is damaged.

So often businesses such as catering companies and such individuals will visit the sale lifeboat to find excellent deals on boats majorly damaged. They then get the boat repaired, put on a fresh layer of paint, and what do you know – it sells for a good price now. So how is it that concerns you? It does affect you because the consumer is he who has paid the additional costs. In most cases, public is invited to participate in the recovery boat sales and so, can make their own purchases. If you have an opportunity to repair and make a bit of work, well -you could save a few thousand dollars.

Rescue boat sales usually notice by the media to inform the public. Be sure to research the models and vessels and have an idea of the values and types of repair that must be completed. In this way, you could do the same as the restoration business and keep thousands of people as your potntial clients. Sales of craft are ideal for people who love the sea and wish for a boat, but they cant afford the costs involved. These vessels are usually sold at a price much smaller which allows repairs and edits to be done to the boat for the return of normal order.

Another good method to get a boat or a luxury yacht is to make a visit to the rescue boat sales. Sometimes luxury boats were seized in illegal activities. These boats are then sold at auction to ta highest bidder, which would hopefully be you. In most cases these vessels would have cost the first owner thousands of dollars, but are being sold at a fraction of that price for various reasons. It is a definite win-win situation, the boats are usually large state so that minor repairs could be necessary.

One thing to consider when you buy a boat is to make sure you deal with the right agent. There are a few people who repait damages boats and pass them off as ‘used only for a week’ and such. Worst case scenario, antisocial elements also try and sell off stolen boats after a fresh coat of paint and a new identity has been given to the boat.

One type of boat that is very popular is the cruising boat. These boats have been built for cruising the open water and lakes, with pleasure being the only intent. Most cruisers will come equipped with at least one cabin that is great for overnight trips.

Another type of boat is the fishing boat. These boats are bought with the purpose of being used for fishing on fresh or saltwater. There will be less room on a fishing boat for passengers than there is on a cruising boat, however large fishing boats may have one cabin that is perfect for the longer fishing trip. If you’re an avid fisherman you’ll want to choose the fishing type boat over other types of boats.

Next kind of boat is the one built for speed. Best suited to adventure seekers and loving water sports such as waterskiing or wake boarding.

After deciding the kind of boat you want contemplate the size. Size matters in a lot of things. A bigger boat would have more room, and functionality with cabins, kitchen room, a head, and deck room. But it will also require more experience and higher budget. Those on shoe string budget and buying their first boat should carefully think and buy a boat which not suits their budget but is also easy to handle.

Another option could be to buy a second hand boat. This would allow you to have all the features that you want in your boat at a much lesser price. New boats do have the advantage of having all their warranties and guarantees. But you can solve this problem by buying from a reliable dealer who specialises in second hand boats or buy directly from the original owner.

There are many different models that you can choose from after you’ve decided on what type of boat you want to buy. You don’t always need to stick with the popular manufacturers of boats since brand name isn’t always what it’s cracked up to be.

No matter what type or size of boat that you decide to purchase, once you’ve decided to buy one you’re on your way to fun and adventure.

In the United States boats are the ultimate place for a much needed vacation to relax far away from the madding crowd. Many people take this very seriously to the point that they even leave their mobile phones back home so as not to be disturbed.

Though many people aspire to own their boats they are faced with the dilemma that the boats are nowhere near their budget. This sends them into the used boat sales industry in search for a way to realize their dream and for many a much needed way to relax.

Getting your boat from a used boat sale is a good way and to save on some thousands of dollars. Just like the used car sales industry, used boats are a good enough buy, though you don’t save much taxes on depreciation of the boat, you definitely save a bundle on the price itself.

One more reason to get yourself a boat from a used boat sale is that a used boat will be fitted with the necessary amenities that are usually not included with a new boat. Many new boats require you to customize the boat according to your requirements and so leave out many features such as interiors and plumbing etc.

All these features will have been taken care of by the previous owner. When you get yourself a good used boat you can it for a few months and then decide what type of boat you actually need. This is a good way to test the waters if you are new to boating. You must also take the time to consider the type of boat you need.

A speed boat is pretty good for all types of water sports where a simple manual boat will definitely provide an avenue for you cruise on weekends and not have to spend much of your mullah. However, if you are in the money the sky is the limit and you may not be even considering a used boat sale unless you just want to try out an experience.

If you are in the market for a used boat then you should do your research first. Move around a bit and get an idea about the prices and the cost of maintenance. Then when you zero in on the boat you want to purchase you must consider the finer details, such as, is there any outstanding tax to be paid on the boat account, what are the repairs, if any needed for the boat, and if the used boat sales person can get you a resale on the boat some time down the line. If you are asked by the used boat sale person about your budget for a used boat.

Do not embarrassed tell him your price and he will surely find a deal to fit your budget.

Most people buying boats are into getting the boat, and not the trailer. They are more than willing to spend money on a boat, then end up getting a cheap trailer. If you want the most from boating, these tips will help you with buying a trailer.

- The total weight of the boat, gear, and motor should be in the mid range of trailer’s carrying capacity. You shouldn’t pick a 2,500 capacity trailer if you have a boat with the same weight.

- Go for larger diameter tires and wheels. The larger tires will rotate less times per mile, producing less heat and wear on the tread. The wheel bearings will last much longer as well, as they rotate less times per mile.

- You should look for trailers with “drive on” capabilities. These drive on trailers will allow you to drive the boat onto the trailer, close enough to the winch so that you only need to winch the boat up a few inches.

- Select trailer lights (for the highway) that are protected and sealed against water.

- Pick your trailer based on the environment it will be operating in. If you plan to launch in salt water, you’ll need a trailer for that purpose. There are many types of trailers available, each one designed for a specific type of boating.

Although most are protected against weather and rust, you should always pick the one designed for the type of terrain you will be using your boat with. This way, you have no worries about your trailer not doing the job it should be.

There are some trailers that include a spare tire, which is an excellent investment for those who plan to travel long distances. Even though it can be hard to find trailer tires in the dark, it’s still great to have a spare if you get a flat while you travel.

All in all, a boat trailer can save you a lot of time and money. You can store your boat on your trailer when it isn’t be used, even take it to other lakes or oceans. A trailer will open up new roads for you and your boat – all you have to do is find one that you need.
